MERCERVILLE, N.J., Dec. 6, 2011 — Princeton Optronics Inc. has announced the availability of single-mode near-infrared vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) with output power up to 100 mW, useful for applications including sensing, machine vision, bioinstrumentation and Raman detection systems. They are single-transverse and single-longitudinal-mode emitters and can be provided in a variety of packages, including TO can, chip-on-submount and custom platforms. An increased signal-to-noise ratio, lower detection limits and increased measurement speed are some of the benefits that high-power single-mode VCSELs provide. The proven reliability of VCSEL technology ensures that these lasers meet the demands of the most rigorous operating conditions. The new VCSELs are designed to replace the complex and costly amplified systems that previously were the only means to achieve these single-mode power levels. Devices are immediately available at 976 nm, with 808 and 1064 nm available soon. Additional wavelengths can be fabricated per customer request.
