IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 3, 2012 — Newport Corp. has introduced high-precision adjustment screws with a 170-thread-per-in. (TPI) thread pitch, providing a 43% improvement in sensitivity over standard 100-TPI adjustment screws.

The 170-TPI adjuster underwent timed alignment testing, and a mirror mount with the adjusters was consistently aligned within a band of ±3 μrad in about half the time as the same mount with 100-TPI threads.

High-precision 170-TPI stainless steel threads are mated with the collet and a proprietary lubricant to allow a full 12.7 mm of fine, stictionless movement. The standard 9.5-mm-diameter collet is threaded with a nut for effortless mounting to optical mounts and stages.

The adjustment screws are nonlocking and available with a knob or with a 2-mm hex key.
