ETTLINGEN, Germany, Oct. 24, 2012 — Vision Components GmbH has introduced a compact Power over Ethernet (PoE)-enabled intelligent camera series.

Additional devices, such as lighting, lasers and flash, can be supplied with power through the PoE connection of the integrated Modulport. The cameras are based on proprietary low-power-consumption nanocamera technology. They measure 76 × 45 × 40 mm and weigh 250 g, facilitating installation and interfacing in machines and factories.

A robust industrial housing provides protection in harsh environments. The cameras are equipped with a CS-mount lens holder and, with corresponding adapters, C- and S-mount lenses also can be used. They are available with four different CMOS sensors with resolutions ranging from 752 × 480 to 2592 × 1944 pixels, reaching rates of 11.6 to 55 fps at full resolution.

The integrated digital signal processor provides computational power of up to 5600 million instructions per second. Up to 32 MB of flash memory and 128 MB of DDRAM are available for program and image storage. The cameras feature 17 programmable digital inputs and outputs for integration into automation environments. Six programmable LEDs display the operating status.

A standard lens interface initially made for 16mm movie cameras and now used primarily on closed-circuit television cameras. It is a 1-in.-diameter, 32-thread-per-inch interface with a flange-to-image plane distance of 0.69 in.
