HAMBURG, Germany, Jan. 22, 2013 — With the first update of the DSX industrial microscope systems, Olympus Europa Holding GmbH introduces options to increase image quality and ergonomics.
The Super HDR (high dynamic range) software enhances the standard high-dynamic-range function on the DSX100, DSX500 and DSX500i microscopes. It combines several images taken at different exposures to correct brightness variations on sample surfaces. The Super HDR function improves signal-to-noise ratio and increases acquisition speed. It is available in two modes: fast, which operates at up to 12 fps to provide smooth imaging even when focusing the sample or moving the stage, and fine, which provides sharper definition with a higher signal-to-noise ratio.
Exclusive to the DSX100, new anti-halation adapters use polarized light to control reflection from the LED illumination ring, eliminating artifacts derived from the light reflection at glossy surfaces and opening up possibilities in color reproduction, making detailed detection of specific areas for analysis as clear as possible.
The DSX100 is now compatible with the DSX-UFSSU motorized stage, enabling the operator to take advantage of the full range of ergonomic automation features, such as the Macro map function, which indicates the actual observation position on the specimen in a separate low-magnification view.
Improvements to 3-D image quality have also been made in the DSX100 and DSX500.
All three DSX series systems are now supported for Windows 7 64-bit.
