940- to 980-nm Linos F-Theta Lenses

GÖTTINGEN, Germany, April 29, 2013 — Qioptiq has enhanced its Linos F-Theta Ronar line of lenses with a series offering wavelengths from 940 to 980 nm. Designed for laser system applications such as plastics welding, the lenses provide broadband antireflection coating, enabling a high damage threshold.

Features include transmission ≥97% in the 940- to 980-nm-wavelength range and ≥75% in the visible range (e.g., for inspection with camera systems). The laser damage threshold is up to 6 J/cm2 (e.g., at 1064 nm, 10-ns pulse length, 100 Hz).

The lenses offer stable, high-precision optomechanics for optimum spot quality over the entire scan field. Replaceable protective glasses are included, and focal lengths from 100 to 420 mm are available.

GLOSSARY
antireflection coating
A thin layer of material applied to a lens surface to reduce the amount of reflected energy. Ideally the index of refraction of that material should be equal to the square root of the product of the indices of the material on either side of the coating, while the ideal thickness for a single-layer coating is one-quarter of the wavelength at which reflectance is to be minimized.
