PROVIDENCE, R.I., June 4, 2013 — Laser Research Optics, a division of Meller Optics Inc., designed its line of zinc selenide CO2 focusing lenses for use with steel-cutting lasers.

The lenses are optimized for 10.6 μm and are available in two versions: one with standard antireflection coatings that provide <0.2% total absorption, and another with a proprietary Cool-Cut coating that absorbs <0.15% of laser energy to protect against thermal damage.

Suitable for use with lasers from 200 W to 4 kW, the lenses feature focal lengths from 3 to 10 in. in 0.5-in. increments. They are available in planoconvex and plano-meniscus configurations in 1- to 2-in. OD sizes, with thicknesses ranging from 0.250 to 0.380 in., and they can be supplied mounted.
