HACKENSACK, N.J., July 25, 2013 — Master Bond Inc. has released UV10TKMed, a high-viscosity UV system for bonding, sealing, coating and cytotoxicity.

The one-part device is optically clear and has a glass transition temperature exceeding 140 °C. With a service temperature range from –60 to 450 °F, it resists repeated sterilization, including radiation, ethylene oxide, chemical sterilants and autoclaving. Combining dimensional stability with low shrinking upon curing, it is 100 percent reactive and does not contain any solvents or diluents.

The instrument readily cures in 20 to 30 s when exposed to a UV light source with an energy output as low as 20 to 40 mW/cm2. The cure rate depends on the compound’s distance from the light source, the thickness of the section and the intensity of the light source. It can cure sections up to ¼ in.; however, when bonding, sections of a few thousandths of an inch are adequate.

It bonds well to glass, composites, surface-treated metals and plastics such as polycarbonates and acrylics, and is available in syringe applicators, ½-pint, pint, quart, gallon and 5-gallon containers.
