NORTH LOGAN, Utah, Aug. 1, 2013 — Models PE50BB-DIF-C and PE50-DIF-ER-C pyroelectric pulsed laser sensors from Ophir Photonics, a Newport Corp. brand, complete its PE-C line. The sensor family is designed for a broad range of high-power, short-pulse YAG and harmonic-generation industrial applications and for long-pulse laser applications ranging from dermatology to micromachining and industrial welding.

The PE50-DIF-ER-C measures average power to 60 W and has a dynamic range extending to infrared lasers, including 2.94-µm erbium pulses. It offers repetition rates up to 10 kHz, energy measurement down to 100 µJ, and a diffuser for high damage thresholds up to 20 J/cm2 for 300-µs pulses.

The PE50BB-DIF-C model features a spectrally flat broadband coating that is usable from the far-UV to the far-IR. It offers energies down to 0.1 mJ and flat spectral response from 0.19 to 20 µm with the diffuser removed. With the diffuser, energy densities are up to 3 J/cm2 for nanosecond pulses.
