SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Aug. 31, 2013 — The ROD 1930 rotary encoder from Heidenhain Corp. has rugged bearings to withstand radial and axial shaft loads of 200 and 150 N, respectively, in mechanically demanding motion-control environments. The shaft load was determined at a maximal permissible speed of 4000 min rpm during a period of 20,000 h. Available with a high-threshold logic output, the encoder can be connected to many standard programmable logic controllers for use in heavy-duty industries such as paper, crane and material handling. The device comes in aluminum housing with a 120-mm diameter and is available with a single- or double-ended shaft of 15 mm, with feather key. Cables are connected on top of the housing through a terminal box that can face in four directions to provide various mounting configurations. Available mounting accessories include shaft couplings, bearing housings and adapter flanges.
