Running on an oreXpress portable spectrometer, Spectral Evolution’s EZ-ID software enables users to compare target scans with the US Geological Survey (USGS) spectral library or commercially available libraries for immediate identification of minerals in the field, or they can build their own libraries.
The software can be used on unknown samples found on outcrops, in pits and in hand samples, and in core shack logging applications.
The spectrometer, with its companion GETAC PS336 handheld microcomputer, features a 350- to 2500-nm spectral range, auto dark shutter and autoexposure for one-touch scanning, a sunlight-readable VGA display and lightweight lithium-ion batteries.
