Iris AO’s deformable mirrors, distributed by Laser 2000 GmbH, use patented MEMS technology and feature 100 to 500 actuators with inscribed apertures from 3.5 to 7.7 mm.

The mirrors consist of 163 high-quality single-crystal-silicon segments, each of which can be positioned by three actuators. This provides small gaps between segments as well as accurate calibrations.

A wide range of optical high-resolution coatings can be combined with the segments for various applications. The mirrors can achieve 300-W/cm2 average power handling without heat sinking and 3 kW/cm2 with heat sinking. Peak power handling of more than 130 MW/cm2 is possible for pulsed applications.

The mirrors are available with dielectric coatings for femtosecond and high-power lasers, and they offer update rates up to 10 kHz.
