HAMBURG, Germany, Sept. 1, 2015 — Olympus cellFRAPA fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) imaging platform from Olympus Europa SE & Co. KG provides accurate and flexible live-cell photomanipulation.

The cellFRAP employs a diffraction-limited laser spot for high-intensity and precise positioning of the bleaching region across the full field of view. A chromatically corrected beam path enables multilaser stimulation without the need for realignment, providing the ability to use up to four different lasers during the same experiment.

Designed for use with the company's IX83 and IX73 inverted microscopes, the system achieves a short switchover time of 200 μs between bleach and post-bleach acquisition, ensuring detection of the most valuable initial sample response after stimulation.

photobleaching
A process that helps optical fibers recover from damage induced by radiation. When silica is irradiated, bonds break and attenuation increases. Light in the fiber assists in recombining the species released by the broken bonds, decreasing attenuation.
