OLCHING, Germany, Sept. 9, 2015 — Laser Process HeadsThree process heads from Haas Laser Technologies Inc. of Flanders, N.J., are designed for use with fiber lasers in high-speed cutting and the welding of plastic.

Compartments enable users to change optics for quick focal distance adjustment, as well as to exchange protective windows. Standard 1.1-in. optics are used.

The G6 head is variable, with several focal length combinations and the option to use patented thermal-lensing-compensation optics. The model is designed for fiber lasers with output power between 4 and 5 kW.

The PHF-25 head is made for fiber lasers with power output up to 2 kW. For output of approximately 100 W, the PHFM head is also available.

fiber laser
A laser in which the lasing medium is an optical fiber doped with low levels of rare-earth halides to make it capable of amplifying light. Output is tunable over a broad range and can be broadband. Laser diodes can be used for pumping because of the fiber laser's low threshold power, eliminating the need for cooling.
