ZURICH, Nov. 11, 2015 — UHF Boxcar AveragerZurich Instruments AG offers the UHF Boxcar, a boxcar averager and periodic waveform analyzer for the extraction of weak periodic signals from noisy backgrounds in pump-probe experiments with pulsed lasers, fluorescence lifetime spectroscopy, lidar and synchrotron photon experiments.

The device works with repetition rates up to 600 MHz, and features a synchronous measurement technique that provides a high signal-to-noise ratio by avoiding limitations set by trigger jitter and trigger dead time.

boxcar averager
An instrument for detecting and analyzing repetitive signals. Using a fixed time delay or "gate," the input signal is sampled numerous times and averaged to increase the ratio of the signal's intensity to that of masking noise. In today's instruments, the gated integrator modules can provide gate widths from 25 ps to 5 ms.
lidar
An acronym of light detection and ranging, describing systems that use a light beam in place of conventional microwave beams for atmospheric monitoring, tracking and detection functions. Ladar, an acronym of laser detection and ranging, uses laser light for detection of speed, altitude, direction and range; it is often called laser radar.
