DIETIKON, Switzerland, Nov. 12, 2015 — Focus-Tunable LensOptotune Switzerland AG offers its largest electric focus-tunable lens, the EL-16-40-TC, for machine vision and other applications.

The lens features a 16-mm clear aperture — 60 percent larger than its predecessor. It has a focal tuning range of –10 to 10 diopters, a 5-ms response time, a 25-ms settling time and a flat zero state. Low thermal drift allows for high reproducibility.

The lens is available with an industrial self-locking connector and a variety of threads, making it possible to combine the lens with off-the-shelf imaging optics. It can be controlled with the company's Lens Driver 4 and 4i; a firmware update enables the Focal Power Mode.
