SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 28, 2015 — Covering wavelengths from 470 to 1000 nm, a hyperspectral imaging system from BaySpec Inc. may be integrated into unmanned aerial vehicles. Applications include precision agriculture, environmental conservancy, geological surveys, climate studies, biomedical diagnostics. The OCI-U-470-1000 offers up to 120 imaging bands in pushbroom mode and up to 35 bands in snapshot mode. Unlike conventional hyperspectral imagers, which rely on a single-slit image and intensive software processing for imaging reconstruction, the OCI-U allows the imager to move and scan at random speeds up to 50 fps. It also does not depend on global positioning system and inertial measurement unit data for image reconstruction and production of distortion-free band images. The system includes BaySpec's SpecGrabber for camera control and data acquisition, as well as CubeCreator for hyperspectral data processing. A variety of lenses are available for different application needs.
