Reynard Corp. has announced the Bullseye inverted apodizing neutral density filter, eliminating undesirable intensity variations in optical systems.

Filter density increases radially from a clear center, where light is usually at its peak intensity, to the outside edge, where it becomes completely opaque. The Bullseye filter can be designed for most distribution functions, such as Gaussian, regardless of the beam’s size. The distribution function, substrate type and bandwidth are a function of the customer’s specific requirements.

Density gradients can be customized to suit any application. The filter can be applied to a number of different substrate types and can be designed to be used from the UV to far-infrared wavelengths. Applications include use in entertainment, imaging, photography, industry and astronomy, among others fields.
