GRAZ, Austria, Aug. 8, 2016 — Profile Measurement DeviceNextsense GmbH has announced the CALIPRI Prime portable profile measurement device for wear parameter measurements of railway vehicle wheels.

The device can measure variables such as flange height, flange width and qR. In addition, it also measures wear values comprising wheel width, hollow tread and rollover, allowing a complete wheel profile measurement. The results of several measurements are produced in one device.

The CALIPRI Prime is based on advances in laser light sectioning through the projection of a laser line onto the profile to be measured and captures the contour with a camera. The use of multiple laser lines to capture the shape of the profile eliminates the possibility of tilted or distorted images.
