Ribbon fiber test kits from Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. were developed for ribbon cable installation and maintenance. The units are compatible with the FTB-300 universal test system and its optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) modules. They include a 1 x 12 optical switch module, a cleaver, a stripper and a cleaning kit. A ribbon joiner connects bare fibers from the OTDR test setup to the fibers under test, allowing testing on bare ribbons.
