A mounting system that enables the creation of complex optical setups with few optomechanical components has been released by CVI Laser Corp. The base of the model 8800 has three 80-pitch adjustment screws with hardened chrome steel balls contacting optically lapped carbide pads. This provides high-resolution tip, tilt and yaw adjustments of ±5°. Carriers can translate up to 2 in. along a pair of orthogonally mounted dovetails on the base's movable plate. The amount of space in the mount allows the insertion of additional components and the use of dissimilar-size optics in the same system.
