A suite of blackbody reference sources that span a temperature range from 240 to 1000 °C has been released by theNational Physical Laboratory. Their short calibration chain and use of heat-pipe technology produce low uncertainties in radiance temperature, from <0.1 °C at lower temperatures to 0.2 °C at 1000 °C. The blackbody sources can be used for calibrating and testing IR thermometers, transfer standard blackbody cavities, radiometers and thermal imaging systems. Systems using other blackbody sources operating up to 3000 °C also are available.
