Hamamatsu Corp. has produced InGaAs PIN photodiodes suitable for 1.3- to 1.55-µm optical fiber communications systems, including Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet and SDH. The G8338 and G8339 receivers, which include transimpedance amplifiers, have a wide dynamic range of -37 to -5 dBm at a data transmission rate of 156 Mb/s. They also feature a rise time of 2000 ps, photosensitivity of 27 V/mW and a temperature range of -20 to +70 °C. The supply current is 25 mA, and the output is 1.5 V.
