The RMS-2 flat super Raman telecom module introduced by MPB Communications Inc. is a system-ready, multiwavelength super Raman pump source that provides flat Raman gain from 1530 to 1565 nm. The innovative pumping method produces distributed Raman gain in transmission fibers, providing 2.5 dB more margin than conventional Raman pumping. The RMS-2 extends the benefits of super Raman pumping across the C-band and features individual "hot swap" replaceable pump laser diodes, resulting in a lower flexible-infrared-transmission value for the module.
