Recent developments in cooled MCT infrared detectors have made possible the development of high-performance IR cameras for use in a wide variety of demanding thermal imaging applications.This paper provides an overview of the optimum characteristics of IR detectors, including those that operate at high frame rates, and describes several applications where high-performance IR cameras excel.
