Welding with High Power Diode Lasers
Whereas CO2 and fiber lasers have long been used for welding metal parts together, there are many cases where high-power diode lasers make much more sense. This paper provides an introduction to high-power diode laser technology and its use in welding. In particular, the paper compares the capabilities and characteristics of diode lasers with other welding laser technologies, reviews the applications best suited for diode laser welding, and provides some guidance on what materials are compatible with the process.
