Jenoptik Laser, Optik, Systeme GmbH has introduced the ProgRes C7 camera, which offers 7-megapixel resolution and SXGA live-imaging capabilities. The device has a C-mount and an IEEE-1394 FireWire interface as well as mechanical shutter and a 32-MHz pixel clock. It includes image acquisition software for Windows and Macintosh operating systems, and free software updates are available on the company’s Web site. It yields a color depth of 12 bits per color channel and 3072 × 2304-pixel sensor resolution. The camera is suitable for macro shots in addition to microscopy and has applications in life sciences, in pathology and cell biology, and in hematology and histology.
