Fibre-Coupled Diode Lasers Pump Ytterbium
• lifetime 20,000 h
• passive water cooling
• spectral width 4 nm

limo2007-100509_bd-a-p0010.jpg Two new high-power fibre-coupled diode lasers from Limo Lissotschenko Mikrooptik GmbH are available for pumping ytterbium lasers such as Yb:YAG. The LIMO300-F600-DL940 and LIMO350-F400-DL940 are compact and rugged, and are attuned to industrial conditions.

The products take the form of laser bars with passive cooling, using water at 20 °C and four-bar pressure flowing at up to 5 l/min. The LIMO300-F600-DL940 produces more than 300 W of continuous-wave output at a centre wavelength of 940 nm and a full width half maximum spectral width of 4 nm. Temperature drift is about 0.35 nm/°C. The laser uses a 600-mm fibre core with a numerical aperture of 0.22 and an LD80 connector. The other diode laser product has a 350-W output and a 400-mm fibre. The head measures 225 × 175 × 65 mm and weighs 6.2 kg.

The devices comply with RoHS 2002/95/EC and CE specifications. They carry a one-year warranty and have an expected lifetime of 20,000 h. They operate at temperatures from 15 to 35 °C, drawing a typical current of 65 A at the start of life and a maximum of 84 A at the end. Typical efficiency is 33%. There is an optional pilot beam of 1 mW at 635 nm and an optional monitor diode. Further pump sources are available at 793, 808, 880, 915, 940 and 980 nm, with power from 20 to 1000 W. Accessories include fibres, power supplies and chillers.
