Green Tube Ltd. has introduced a family of linear LED lights that can function as replacements for fluorescent tubes in supermarket display cabinets and chillers and as general lighting in car parks and office buildings. Their design enables the sources to retrofit into existing fluorescent lamp brackets without requiring special engineering skills yet offering a short payback period.
The proprietary design provides high efficiency, and the product does not suffer from the mercury or ultraviolet issues associated with fluorescent lights. The construction is airtight and features a shatterproof polycarbonate plastic casing. The light requires no external power supply or ballast and has no polarity, so it fits either way into the bracket. The light source operates at temperatures down to –30 °C and is warranted for two years, with a guaranteed LED lifetime of 75,000 h. The DEB-818-10 model is 588 mm long and replaces the T8, 18-W lamp. It has 10 LED elements and draws 10 W from the mains supply voltage. It can supply more than 1000 lm of luminous flux. At the other end of the range, the 1147-mm DEB-554-24 is a replacement for the T5, 54-W fluorescent lamp, and its 24 elements emit more than 2400 lm from 24 W of power, drawing a peak current of 146 mA.
The lights are available in T8 and T5 sizes, with diffused or clear finishes, but custom sizes and finishes also are available. They meet CE standards and conform to relevant European Union directives. An optional remote key fob or integrated control knob provides dimmer control.
