NEC Electronics Europe
High-Temperature Optocouplers

DUESSELDORF, Germany, April 17, 2008 -- NEC Electronics Europe has introduced a series of transistor output optocouplers guaranteed to operate in ambient temperatures up to 110 °C, making them suitable for use in switched-mode power supplies, factory equipment or any application in which components are densely packed.

neceurope.jpgThe PS2561B-1 optocouplers are in a plastic dual in-line package (DIP) with a high-isolation voltage of 5000 V rms (root-mean-square) and are available in a through-hole or surface-mount version. Output collector-to-emitter voltage up to 80V can be applied, with a maximum current of 50mA.

Optopcouplers in smaller SMD (surface mount device) packages are also available: The PS2761B-1 and PS2861B-1 are in small-outline (SOP, 2.54 mm pin-pitch) and shrink small-outline (SSOP, 1.27 mm pin-pitch) packages with isolation voltages of 3750 Vrms.

The optocouplers can operate at both 1- and 5-mA input currents, and the values for the current transfer ratio are specified for both input-current levels. They are RoHS compliant and meet international safety standards.

PS2561B-1 and PS2761B-1 optocouplers are available now; the PS2861B-1 SSOP-type optocoupler is planned to be released in the third quarter of 2008, and design samples will be available starting in May.
