Laser Alignment Eyewear
SAINT PAUL, M.N., July 17, 2008 – Laservision USA, manufacturer of laser protective products, has introduced laser alignment eyewear for laser operators, technicians, engineers, maintenance and service personnel.
The eyewear is specifically for those who may need to safely observe light emitted from visible lasers (400 nm – 700 nm) while performing critical alignment procedures.
Proper selection of optical density (OD) protection levels within this wavelength region must take into account anticipated laser output power and maximum permissible exposure (MPE) levels for potential exposure that are not intended to exceed an individual’s ‘blink reflex’ or aversion response to a bright light stimulant.
“Proper optical density (OD) selection of either the glass or polycarbonate eyewear filters by the LSO (Laser Safety Officer) allows users to safely view attenuated levels of visible alignment beams during optical alignment tasks,” says Bill Janssen, Certified Laser Safety Officer (CLSO) “These alignment filters are an excellent choice for ocular protection against argon, krypton, HeNe, frequency doubled ND:YAG (532nm), tunable dye and other common visible laser wavelengths.”
