Nd:YAG 50/50 Beamsplitters
IRVINE, Calif. May 14, 2008 – Newport Corporation announced its new line of high-energy Nd:YAG laser 50/50 beamsplitters that are designed for scientific research applications that use YAG lasers. These applications include pumping OPOs (optical parametric oscillator) and Ti:Sapphire lasers, pumping dye lasers, laser-induced fluorescence, remote sensing, ablation, lidar (light detecting and ranging), and cars (coherent anti-stokes raman scattering).

Newport's 50/50 Beamsplitter
According to Keshav Kumar, Product Manager for Optics at Newport, “The High Energy Nd:YAG Laser 50/50 Beamsplitters were designed to be used with Spectra-Physics Quanta-Ray lasers. However, with a damage threshold of 20.0 J/cm2 with 10ns pulse at 1064nm or 2000 MW/cm2 CW, and 12.0 J/cm2 with 10ns pulse at 532nm or 1200 MW/cm2 CW, we believe that these new optics are the ideal choice for any research applications that use Nd:YAG or Nd:YLF lasers.”
Newport’s 50/50 beamsplitters are manufactured using high purity fused silica substrates and ultra-hard dielectric coatings. They are designed to withstand high-energy pulses and have a high damage threshold. The front of the beamsplitter is coated with a high power beam splitting coating optimized for 45 deg angle of incidence for S- and P- polarizations. The back surface is coated with a high damage threshold antireflection coating and they are offered in 25.4 mm (1”) or 50.8 mm (2”) diameters.
