Silicon Drift Detector
PRINCETON, N.J., Oct. 7, 2008 – Princeton Gamma Tech Instruments Inc. has released the Sahara III, a Peltier-cooled silicon drift detector for SDD applications.

The latest in the Sahara line of x-ray systems, it features an active detector area of 10 to 100 mm2 and a standard beryllium or low-energy polymer window. According to the company, it complements its other x-ray detector offerings, including liquid-nitrogen cooled Si(Li), IGX and multi-element detector arrays. princeton-gamma-detector.jpg

Applications include x-ray fluorescence, clean rooms where LN2 is prohibited and applications where high count rate is an advantage.
