Ultrasonic Sensor
Manufacturer: Sick
MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 4, 2008 – The UC4 ultrasonic sensor from Sick Inc. offers detection of optically difficult targets and provides performance in optically challenging environments.

According to the company, the sensor is the smallest one it offers and customers are able to install it in places that are too tight for most other ultrasonic sensors. It can be used in tough applications, including detection of transparent or mesh targets, where photoelectric sensors do not work.

sick-uc4-ultrasonic-sensor.jpg It combines push-button setup with detection performance and has a single PNP or NPN output capable of detecting targets within its 250 mm range. It also has three detection and output modes – background suppression, window and reflection mode.

Applications include hopper and tank fill level detection, bottling line presence detection of clear bottles and multi-colored caps, woodworking and metal forming and fabricating machinery for product detection, positioning of internal parts on a machine and for detection of wafers, solar panels, glass and PCBs in the semiconductor industry.
