SpecTran Communication Fiber Technologies has announced its GigaGuide optical fiber, a standards-compliant fiber for use in the Gigabit Ethernet data communications systems. It has a 62.5-µm core and is optimized to operate a minimum of 300 m using the IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet standards. It is also fully compatible with Fast Ethernet, FDDI and 155-Mb/s ATM standards.
