Dura-Bend plastic sensing fibers from Banner Engineering Corp. were developed to carry light through very tight radius bends with no signal loss or fiber damage, enabling the integration of plastic fiber optic assemblies in previously impossible locations. The company says they are 25 times more flexible than standard 1.0-mm fiber optic assemblies and can be bent to a radius of 1 mm without light signal loss or fiber damage. The fibers are field-installable and can be cut to length during installation with the supplied cutting device. They can be used with most of the company's fiber optic photoelectric sensors.
