COLOR SCANNER ON A CHIP

National Semiconductor Corp.'s LM9830 is designed to provide the functions of a high-performance color scanner, including analog front end, sensor clock generation, microstepping motor control, data buffering and parallel port interface, on a single integrated circuit. Employing a 6-MHz, 12-bit ADC with pipelined architecture, the device operates at a 6-megapixel-per-second conversion rate and scans images in full 36-bit color. It incorporates digital offset and shading correction, and digital pixel processing and individual RGB gamma tables enable a variety of resolutions from 50 to 600 dpi horizontal. Vertical resolutions also are 50 to 600 dpi in 1-dpi increments.
