Terahertz Technologies Inc. (TTI) has extended the frequency range of its C-980 variable-speed optical chopper to 5000 Hz, a 25% increase in chopping frequency using only one blade that covers 4 Hz to 4 kHz. The frequency stability is still at 0.1% of setting and phase jitter remains <1.0% peak to peak. The C-980 consists of a four-digit LED frequency display and a chopping head including a precision photo-etched blade with a dual set of apertures and slots.
