PerkinElmer Inc. (formerly EG&G Inc.) of Wellesley, Mass., and Bragg Photonics Inc. of Montreal announced that they will jointly develop integrated fiber optic products and solutions for the telecommunications industry. Under terms of the agreement, a multimillion-dollar investment by PerkinElmer gives it a 13 percent equity stake in the privately held Bragg Photonics, with the option to increase ownership.
PerkinElmer's optoelectronics business offers receivers, transmitters, pump lasers and photodetectors. Bragg produces fiber-grating-based components for optical networking applications, including dense wavelength division and optical add/drop multiplexing, laser wavelength stabilization, and signal equalization in erbium-doped fiber amplifiers.
