Noah Industries Inc. has unveiled a fiber optic optical-to-electrical (OE) and electrical-to-optical (EO) converter suitable for high-speed data communications, ATM/ SONET/SDH applications and general-purpose laboratory use. The OE section contains a high-sensitivity avalanche photodiode, analog amplifier chain and a comparator to convert the input to a digital signal. The EO section accepts either a TTL, differential or single-ended signal to modulate a high-power laser diode. The unit is available in 155- and 622-MB/s models.
