Fiber-Fibre Ltd. has developed a polarizing fiber assembly that it says is less affected by macrobending and is capable of operating over a wider bandwidth than other fibers. The unit has standard polarization-maintaining fiber with a polarizing assembly in the middle of the fiber length. It comes with a 900-µm loose tube buffer and no connectors. The extinction ratio between the wanted and unwanted axis is better than 25 dB for both the 1300- and 1500-nm models. The insertion loss, excluding connectors, is guaranteed to be <1.4 dB.
