Lambda Physik has extended its StarLine series with the addition of a 500-Hz diode-pumped solid-state laser system. The StarLine 2030/0.5 offers pulse energies of 8 mJ at 1064 nm with a pulse length of less than 13 ns. The short pulse length, in combination with the high pulse energy, makes this laser suitable for micromachining applications such as drilling holes in steel. The supply unit increases performance and reliability, while decreasing maintenance. The company says this model doubles the diode lifetime of the StarLine 2030/1 and 2030/3.
