The 6-D HP laser measuring system from Automated Precision Inc. simultaneously maps six possible positioning errors of a coordinate measurement machine and other metrology instruments. The system error-maps linear displacement in the direction of motion, straightness of travel in the two axes perpendicular to the direction of motion, angular pitch and angular yaw motion, and angular roll around the direction of travel. Heat-isolated laser beam delivery allows the system to record measurements with a linear precision of 0.2 ppm.
