CONFOCAL MICROSCOPE

The LiveScan Swept Field confocal microscope from Nikon Instruments enables dynamic live-cell confocal imaging. The laser-based device can be used in point-scan mode for high-resolution data acquisition at more than 200 fps, and in slit-scan mode for acquisition at greater than 1500 fps. Suitable for use in cell biology and neurophysiology research, it can monitor and record events in living cells with millisecond resolution without compromising spatial resolution. Its control of high-frequency, low-intensity illumination reduces photobleaching and -toxicity. The plate has slits of two sizes so that the user can alternate scanning apertures to obtain the best balance of speed, resolution and sensitivity. The microscope uses up to six acousto-optic tunable filter modulated laser lines for single- or multichannel sequential data acquisition.
