ALUMINUM ALLOY

International Resistive Co. (IRC) Inc.'s Advanced Film Div. has developed the Anotherm substrate, a thermally conductive aluminum alloy material to which display system design engineers can mount visible LEDs, eliminating the need for attached heat sinks and mounting hardware. Solderable thick-film conductors can be screen-printed directly to the substrate to connect surface-mount packaged components and wire-bonded dies. The alloy withstands temperatures of up to 400 °C without soldered components and up to 175 °C with solder. Maximum operating voltage is 250 VAC, and thermal impedance is 0.2 °C/W.
