Optek Technology's color sensor assembly enables automated color detection for applications such as pill sorting, ink and paper inspection, and color-match sensing. The sensor assembly incorporates a self-correcting white LED illumination source and a color sensor chip that measures the hue, saturation and luminance values of the light reflected from a surface. It is packaged in a 1.08 X 0.675 X 0.26-in. plastic housing for integration into systems where space is a premium. Signal-processing electronics may be added to the assembly to enhance its ability to distinguish colors.
