Micro Photon Devices' PDM series single-photon-counting detectors use a proprietary single-photon avalanche diode and a patented integrated active quenching circuit. They provide 50-ps timing resolution and are available with 20-, 50- or 100-µm active diameters. The company says that they deliver good photon-detection efficiency, low dark counts and low after-pulsing, and that they are robust and easy to use. Applications include OEM instrumentation, research and educational use.
