Micronor Inc. has announced its MR312 and MR314 ZapFree fiber optic rotary encoders for harsh and hazardous environments. The MR312 is a completely passive system. The MR314, which has a hollow shaft configuration, achieves 1024-ppr resolution. The encoders are immune to electromagnetic and radio frequency interference and to lightning, and they allow link lengths of up to 1000 m. The MR310 remote encoder interface module provides an array of outputs and interfaces that are compatible with conventional programmable logic controllers and computer interface boards.
