
The mmi CellManipulator from
Molecular Machines & Industries (MMI) AG is an optical trap that enables ultraprecise contact-free manipulation of microscopic particles. The multibeam tweezers use a focused laser beam to trap, move and position single cells or subcellular and microscopic particles in sizes from approximately 0.1 to 200 µm. Applications include cell sorting and fusion, measurement of binding forces or viscosities, measurement of cell-cell interactions and the study of subcellular movement. The system can be combined as a module with the laser microdissection instrument mmi Cellcut.
