The Cooke Corp. has introduced the hsfc pro, a 12-bit camera system suitable for imaging very fast events, such as laser ablation, hypervelocity impacts, short-time physics, ballistics and combustion. The camera comprises an image splitter, four CCD modules with fast switchable multichannel plate intensifiers and a shutter that operates as fast as 3 ns in single mode. Its image sensors contain 1280 × 1024 arrays of 6.7 × 6.7-µm pixels, and it can capture up to four full-frame-resolution images with 1-ns interframing time. The system is sensitive from 380 to 1300 nm and features thermoelectric cooling to –12 °C, optical or electrical triggering, serial high-speed transfer via a fiber optic link, and horizontal and vertical binning.
