An industrial diode laser system from JDSU incorporates multiple telecomgrade single-emitter diodes into a single output fiber and provides up to 100 W of power. The IDL 100 has a lifetime of more than 400,000 h. A uniform top-hat beam profile, along with good beam quality and reliability, make the laser suitable for selective laser soldering as well as for plastic welding of exhaust manifolds, key bobs, CV joints and lightweight plastic gasoline tanks.
